Product Description
In this inspired update to the wildly popular 890, the New Balance 890v2 takes "lightest" even lighter! Engineered from the ground up, this neutral trainer is a new kind of lightweight shoe, each part designed with an individual purpose making it a very tehnical trainer. The full ground contact outsole is just as compatible with midfoot and forefoot strikes as it is with a traditional heel strike. Innovative diamond shapes cut in relief from the extra-durable REVlite midsole provide as much function as fashion, and the coordinating diamond motif on the outsole helps with grip and transition.

By John
Used for Marathon Training (recently completed the Chicago Marathon in Oct 2012).
Purchased purely out of peer pressure from a running buddy and the price. Not really a NB fan - but, wanted to give them a try. During my 20 week marathon training, any long run - longer than 9 miles - in the shoes would result in a blister on my left foot (only my left foot, and only with the 890s...none of my other shoes). So, I would only wear the 890s for runs less than 9 miles and I was fine. Upon completion of the Marathon, I started wearing the 890s on my weekly long run, and no blisters....so, I dunno. It is a lighter, long-mileage shoe (it looks heavier than it is). The shoe is now in my rotation for long runs.

I am two and a half weeks into these shoes. They felt great, good cushion and extremely lite. Please note that the 890 are design for the mid/fore foot strikers in mind. The heel drop will force you to use your calf more when compare to traditional running shoes. After my first 12 mile run, my calf did feel a little tight, almost to the point of low grade calf pull. May be is just my form, but the pain went away after the 2nd week. I hope they can last for more than 400 miles.

I've had a pair of the grey/blue 890v2 for about a month now and am greatly impressed. I walk in hills
at least an hour each day and have found these to be a delight. Especially impressive is that they:
a) are very light;
b) are most comfortable;
c) provide the feet with a soft base; and yet
d) allow the feet to "feel" the road.
I will definitely buy another pair when these have worn out.
